Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” —Luke 11:1

In response to the disciples asking Him to teach them to pray, Jesus put prayer in three dimensions in the Book of Luke. He placed it in approaching God as Father, Friend, and Judge. We must allow the Holy Spirit to reveal to us these three realms of prayer, one of which is approaching God as Judge in His judicial system. Understanding these three realms of prayer can change the way we see God and then approach Him. Our perspective of who God is radically affects the way we pray and petition the Lord in His glory. We must ask the Lord for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to bring us ever-increasing insight to His true nature in all three of these dimensions mentioned (Eph. 1:17). As we grow in the knowledge of who God is, our prayers will be empowered. The result will be changed lives, situations, and breakthroughs.

Lord, as I stand before You, I ask for the revelation and understanding of who You are. Thank You that because of Your blood shed for me I can approach You as my Father, as my Friend, and as my Judge. I take great delight in allowing the Holy Spirit to teach me how to relate to You in these three realms. Thank You for the revelation I have and that which I will have and is to come.

So He said to them, “When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” —Luke 11:2

God as our Father is basic to any and all prayer. We will never go any deeper in prayer than our revelation of Him as Father allows. We must have the spirit of adoption create in our heart the cry of “Abba Father” (Rom. 8:15). This brings revelation of who God truly is. It deals with any religious version of God that the devil would use to pollute our ideas of God and His activities toward us. This will set the platform for our operation in the Courts of Heaven. Most if not all people carry wounds or at least issues in their hearts from insufficient fathering. With the spirit of adoption, the Holy Spirit comes and brings revelation of God as Father. This allows us to come boldly before Him without fear and ask abundantly from our covenant position. We are children of the Most High God. First John 3:1–2 speaks of the wonderful love of the Father that has made us His child. Nothing can separate us from Him or His love (Rom. 8:38–39).

Lord, I come before You by faith as my loving, benevolent, and caring Father. I thank You that any insufficient fathering I have had in my life that created a wrong perspective of You would now be changed, healed, and removed. I want to see You in the true nature of who You are, that with boldness and reverence I might approach You. Thank You so much.

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. —Revelation 12:11

It is not enough to silence the arguments against us through the blood. We must also be able to present cases in our behalf. This is the “word of [our] testimony.” When we come and petition the Courts of Heaven, we should be able to present our case that allows decision for us to flow from it. In a natural court a judge can render decisions based only on the evidence presented. This is true in the Courts of Heaven as well. We must come before the Courts of Heaven and with understanding and insight make our case before God as the Judge of all the earth. As this is done, God then has the legal right to render to us the verdicts we desire. He is able to answer our prayers and fulfill the passion of His heart. He awaits our presence in His Courts.

Lord, as I come to stand before You as the Judge of all the earth, I bring my petition. I realize that as Judge You require me to present my case. I would put You into remembrance of all that is necessary for You to render decisions and verdicts in my behalf. Help me, Lord, by Your Holy Spirit to be able to present as I ought my case that You might answer my request and fulfill Your passion. Thank You for the right to stand before You in this holy place.

A fiery stream issued and came forth from before Him. A thousand thousands ministered to Him; ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The court was seated, and the books were opened. —Daniel 7:10

The books are open after the Court is seated because cases are going to be presented from these books of destinies. This requires us to prophetically discern what is in the books of Heaven concerning us. We do not come before the Courts on the basis of need. We petition God as Father and Friend for this. Our cases in the Courts of Heaven must be presented out of God’s purposes before Him as Judge. We do this out of what is written in the books of Heaven. We present before Him His passion concerning us and His purpose through us. As we allow the Holy Spirit to develop this prophetic inclination, we begin to get revelation of what is in the books of Heaven. From this revelation we begin to petition the Courts of Heaven.

Lord, as I come before Your Courts, I ask for a new realm of prophetic understanding to develop in me. Help me, Lord, to pay attention in the Spirit to what You are revealing to me from the books of Heaven. Allow me, Lord, to discern then present Your passion concerning me before Your Courts as a case. As I do, Lord, I ask for decisions to be rendered that would allow Your will to be done and my destiny to be fulfilled.

Now when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his three hundred and eighteen trained servants who were born in his own house, and went in pursuit as far as Dan. —Genesis 14:14

Abraham’s house became an expression of government that had the power to destroy kings, powers of darkness, that were tormenting and warping culture. This house is a picture of what the church is to be. We are to be a house that is a government. We are to be God’s governing family. The first thing that allowed this house to be an expression of government in the spirit was those “born” in the house. In other words, they had the DNA of the house. There is a certain DNA that comes from being born in a house. We also could say you are “born for” a house. In other words, one of the main reasons you exist is to be a part of a specific house. In that house you will find destiny, purpose, and empowerment. When you are born for a house, you take on the very spirit and life of that house. You think the way that house thinks. You have the same goals and vision that the house has. Your passion comes from the passion of the house. The thing that allowed Abraham’s house to be a government was because they all walked in the same spirit, unity and like-mindedness because they were born for this house. There is a house for everyone, even those who feel like they do not fit. God will fit you in the Body as it pleases Him (1 Cor. 12:18). You will find the place you were born for. This allows a house to become His expression of government.

Lord, as I stand before Your Courts, I ask that You fit me in the Body as it pleases You. I ask that the place I have been born for would be revealed to me. I ask that I might be joined in Your house as a living stone made and prepared by You. Lord, as I do this would You let this house I am born to be a part of now, become an expression of Your government. Lord, allow life to change in the world because Your house, the church, is expressing Your life, power, and authority.
